Course Description /
Rationale:
The
Grade 12 University/College Visual Arts course is the culmination of the
secondary school visual arts program. It
is the preparatory course for post-secondary study and therefore is designed
around a variety of media-based units in order to encourage more personal
growth, creative problem solving, and personal expression. The expectations are evaluated within the
framework of three main strands of learning, based on the revised curriculum,
2009: CREATING AND PRESENTING, REFLECTING, RESPONDING, ANALYSING, and FOUNDATIONS.

Grade 11 Native Studies (NBV3C)
Course Description / Rational:
This course
focuses on the beliefs, values, and aspirations of Aboriginal peoples in
Canada. This will be done through a hands-on visual arts perspective. Students
will examine world views of Aboriginal peoples and the political, economic,
cultural, and social challenges facing individuals and communities. Students
will also learn how traditional and contemporary beliefs and values influence
the aspirations and actions of Aboriginal peoples and their art making
practices.

Grade 11 Photography (AWQ3M)

Course Description / Rational:
This senior Grade 11 University/College Digital Photography course is the preparatory course for any grade 12 college\university course in the visual arts, and therefore is designed around a variety of media-based units in order to encourage more personal growth, creative problem solving, and personal expression.
